This Week in First Look - April Week 3

Who is your friend? Jesus is your friend!

BASIC TRUTH:

Jesus wants to be my friend forever!

WEEK 3 VERSE:

MATTHEW 26:20-30; 27:45-50; 28:1-7 Jesus dies, is buried, and comes back, just like He promised, so He can be our friend forever.

This month, our goal is to let toddlers and preschoolers know that Jesus wants to be their friend! We will share bible stories, play worship videos, and engage your preschooler in hands-on activities that remind them of this basic truth!

CUDDLE TIME - DO THIS!

Cuddle with your child and pray, "Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be our friend forever. Help us tell other people the good news that Jesus is alive and He wants to be their friend forever too. We love You, God. In Jesus' name, amen."

REMEMBER THIS:“A friend loves at all times.” Proverbs 17:17, NIrV

4 MEANINGFUL WAYS TO CELEBRATE EASTER WITH YOUR PRESCHOOLER By Autumn Ward

One of the things I wrestled with when my kids were growing up was how to make the true story of Easter the most important part of Easter while participating in all the fun around us. I loved watching my kids dig through their baskets and run through the grass looking for hidden eggs. I mean, how cute is a toddler walking off-balance carrying a basket that’s bigger than he is? And I’ll confess, I have eaten my share of Peeps and Cadbury Crème Eggs in my minivan after buying groceries . . . several weeks before Easter!

But even more than all that cuteness and yumminess, I had a sincere desire for my kids to know how much God loves them and what Jesus did for us so we can be with God forever. This is why we celebrate Easter.

Here are a few simple, but meaningful, ways to celebrate the true story of Easter that your kids may one day want to enjoy with their own . . .

WHAT EASTER IS ABOUT

By Sarah Anderson

IT’S EASTER!!!!! JESUS IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

Easter reminds us that something good can always come out of something bad. See, Jesus told us life would be hard. That bad things would happen. That things that don’t make any sense would confuse us and make us wonder about God and if He is really as good aswe want Him to be. We can count on life being difficult. But Easter is all about something being more true than life just being hard. Easter is about something new and something good happening in something old and something bad.

As parents it can be really easy to get discouraged in a tough season with our kids. It can feel like it can never end and things will never get better. But Easter is the reminder that no season lasts forever and to hang on. The story will get better . . .
